Three phase asynchronous motor is divided into squirrel cage motor and winding motor
The most common three-phase asynchronous motor in daily work, some are called squirrel cage three-phase asynchronous motor, some are called wound three-phase asynchronous motor. Why? This is classified according to their rotor structure.
Difference between squirrel cage three-phase asynchronous motor and wound asynchronous motor:
From the appearance, the most obvious difference of wound asynchronous motor is that it has rotor slip ring, while squirrel cage motor does not.
The rotor winding of squirrel cage three-phase asynchronous motor is its own short-circuit winding. The rotor has a conductor in each slot, which is longer than the iron core. Two end rings are used to short the conductor at both ends of the iron core to form a short-circuit winding. If the iron core is removed, the remaining winding is similar to squirrel cage, so it is called squirrel cage winding.
Squirrel cage type three-phase asynchronous motor rotor winding type motor: the rotor is a copper wire wound coil, and the end of the coil is led to the starting control equipment through the slip ring.
The advantages and disadvantages of squirrel cage three-phase asynchronous motor and winding asynchronous motor are as follows:
Squirrel cage three-phase asynchronous motor:
Advantages: simple structure, easy to start, reliable operation, small size, strong and durable, easy to maintain, repair and install, low cost.
Disadvantages: the starting torque is small, the power factor is low, the speed is not easy to adjust, and the starting current is large during direct starting. Under normal conditions, the squirrel cage motor operates and starts 2-3 times in cold state, and the interval time of each time shall not be less than 5 minutes. Run once in hot state. When the squirrel cage asynchronous motor starts frequently, it is easy to break the bars of the squirrel cage.
Wound three phase asynchronous motor:
Advantages: by adding external resistance in series in the rotor circuit, the starting current and speed are reduced, and the starting torque is increased. It can improve the starting and speed regulating performance of the motor.
Disadvantages: complex structure, troublesome maintenance, poor operation reliability and high price.
